Incorporated by the Korean government in 1983, Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) has grown to become one of the world’s leading energy companies. As Korea’s sole public LNG provider, KOGAS operates four LNG terminals of the world’s largest total storage capacity and a nationwide pipeline network spanning over 4,908km to ensure stable supply for the nation. With its gas procurement volume amounting to 33.7 million tons in 2019, KOGAS imports and supplies LNG to power plants, gas-utility companies and city gas companies in Korea.
Dedicated to achieving Korea’s energy self-reliance, KOGAS is actively engaged in the entire LNG value chain. Today, KOGAS is conducting 12 exploration and production, 8 LNG projects, and 4 downstream projects including LNG regasification terminal operations across the world. Specifically, KOGAS has proved its capabilities as a project co-operator in Indonesia’s DSLNG project and as a resource developer with the successful discovery of a sizeable gas field in Mozambique.
In line with energy transition, KOGAS is also committed to fostering a hydrogen industry ecosystem and establishing hydrogen infrastructure. LNG bunkering is another area of new growth business, for which KOGAS is developing a standardized LNG refueling method for vessels using a vehicle-based charging system while striving to form a global LNG bunkering alliance.
