Sobhith is Lloyd’s Register’s (LR) global lead for ship new construction support services, responsible for advisory services to shipowners/charters in their ship building projects. He is passionate about Gas Technology, Maritime De-carbonisation and leads efforts to support the transition to alternate fuels and building of LNG/Gas Carriers.
Sobhith has been working with Lloyd’s Register for 16 years and has held various positions with the organization. Previously, he headed LR’s engineering systems team in South Asia dealing with a variety of ship new building projects and offshore installations. He has also worked as the Regional Gas Technology Lead responsible for service delivery of clean energy projects on LNG/LPG maritime transportation, Novel Fuel Technologies (LNG, LPG, Ammonia, Hydrogen), LNG bunkering facilities and Floating Storage & Regasification Units (FSRU). He has gained global exposure through working in LR offices in Korea, Singapore and United Kingdom with involvement in first FLNG (Prelude) project as well as first series of ice class LNG carriers.
Sobhith received his degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Glasgow, U.K. He also holds an MBA from Singapore Management University, Singapore.
