As President of Malaysian Gas Association (MGA), Abdul Aziz brings over 33 years of extensive experience and knowledge across the energy sector, particular in the gas industry.
Given his extensive exposure and knowledge, Abdul Aziz has been appointed as the International Gas Union’s Regional Coordinator for South & Southeast Asia to strengthen the region’s position in the global gas industry.
He is currently the Vice President of Gas & Power, PETRONAS and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Offer of PETRONAS Gas Berhad (PGB). He is also a Non-Independent Executive Director at PGB, in addition to directorship in several other companies in PETRONAS.
He started his career in PETRONAS as an engineer at the Peninsular Gas Utilisation Project (PGU), the 2,623km gas transmission pipeline network spanning the entire Peninsular Malaysia owned and operated by PGB. He was later promoted to head the operations of the cogeneration facilities at PGB before his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer, Vinyl Chloride Malaysia Sdn Bhd. He then served as the Vice President, Strategy and New Ventures, PETRONAS Energy Canada Limited prior to his current appointment.
Aziz holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University George Washington, United States of America and has attended the INSEAD Programme at INSEAD Business School.
