WGC 2021 presents latest updates at the IGU Council Meetings, Yogyakarta

Last week the WGC 2021 National Organising Committee provided the IGU Council with an update on the latest framework and progress for the 28th World Gas Conference.

We were delighted to announce that our NOC has recently been joined by a new Chairman, Mr Bong Kyu Park and a new Secretary General, Mr Kyunghoon Lee.

Mr Park, who has worked for the Ministry of Energy and the President’s Office in Korea, will use his experience to bring Government wide support to the event in Daegu. He has personally committed to ensure every effort is made to deliver a hugely successful event in June 2021.

Mr Lee’s background at KOGAS will bring extensive industry knowledge, enhancing the event and ensuring our legacy will strengthen the advancement of the gas industry as well as the IGU.

Led by Mr Lee the NOC organizers team delivered a presentation on Wednesday morning which included an update on both the conference and exhibition. We were delighted to announce that the overall conference program was launched earlier this year and that we have recently confirmed our initial line-up of Plenary speakers, which includes the CEO’s of both KOGAS and Cheniere.

The exhibition is over 70% sold with 26 of the largest companies from WGC 2018 already committed to exhibit again in June 2021.
